Garden of Eden Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

The name Ylang Ylang means “flower of flowers” because no other tropical tree produces blossoms with a more flowery fragrance. The aroma is valuable for relaxation and stress reduction. The oil is historically known as an aphrodisiac. Ironically, blossoms from trees growing in the wild, unattended, have little fragrance. Only after care from human hands does the romantic, sweet fragrance develop.
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil (Cananga odorata) is steam distilled from its flowers picked in early summer. Its relatively small, lipid structure is easily absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. When diffused, the aroma is absorbed through the nose into the limbic portion of the brain and stimulates the part of the brain that releases endorphins.
Traditionally known for its romance producing properties, ylang ylang is commonly used in massage products. Its stress relieving and relaxing effects make it a great oil for diffusion as well as absorption through the skin.
Use and Diffuse Blends:
Lovers Massage – ylang ylang, rose, lemon, palma rosa
Euphoric Room Mist – ylang, ylang, patchouli, black pepper, neroli, rose, jasmine
Relaxing Bath – ylang ylang, sandalwood, bergamot, honey
Meditation Mix – ylang ylang, frankincense, lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood
Basic cautions: Always use essential oils with caution and recognize that these oils are strongly concentrated – a little bit goes a long way. Do not ingest essential oils or take them internally in any way. Always use essential oils in a carrier oil or lotion. Keep all oils out of the reach of children. When trying a new oil or blend, always do a patch test.
