Opening a bottle of Lavender Essential Oil (Lavendula officinalus) is like being instantly transported to a sun-drenched lavender field in Provence, France. Lavender is perhaps the most versatile essential oil. Need to sleep? Headache? Sore Muscles? Lavender is truly a wonderful relaxer. Stressed hair? Try a lavender conditioner for shine. Bug bites? Sunburn? Burns? Scars? Lavender promotes healing. It can be used safely on children.
Long known as an effective relaxant, let this fragrant oil relax and soothe you with a few drops on a cotton ball, slipped between the pillow and its case, or diffused into the air in the bedroom. Try a few drops in a hot bath for simultaneous soothing of muscle and mind.
Mix a few drops into Vitamin E oil and apply to a bug bite to promote healing and reduce the sting and itch. Mixed with an unscented lotion, lavender can soothe a sunburn. For other skin burns, lavender’s antibacterial properties can help with healing as well as soothing the emotional distress of the injury.
