Remember waiting in line to sharpen your No. 2 pencil in school? The fragrance of cedar brings up memories from our early school days because pencils are made from cedar trees. The wood itself is highly aromatic due to the high percentage of essential oil it contains. It has historically been used for scenting the home, as an insect repellant and treating oily skin. Its deodorizing properties are legendary.
Cedarwood trees thrive in the mountains and may live up to 25 years. Across many cultures, cedarwood is associated with sacred strength. Tibetan monks have used cedarwood incense for meditation and centuries. In aromatherapy, cedarwood is used to promote inner strength and breathing, to reduce anxiety and tension and to relax tight muscles – all with a bit of sensuality mixed in.
Cedarwood oil (Juniparus Mexicana) is ideal to diffuse for yoga and meditation sessions. Its generous fragrance naturally repels insects and freshens closets. It’s useful in soap making and hair care.

Uplifting Massage Oil – cedarwood, lime
Basic cautions: Always use essential oils with caution and recognize that these oils are strongly concentrated – a little bit goes a long way. Do not ingest essential oils or take them internally in any way. Always use essential oils in a carrier oil or lotion. Keep all oils out of the reach of children. When trying a new oil or blend, always do a patch test.
