Lemongrass Essential Oil (Cymbopogen citratus)is a deep citrusy, herbaceous scent that is uplifting as an aromatherapy oil. A perennial tropical grass that grows up to five feet tall, it is most commonly used as an insect deterrent, but it’s also known for its antiviral and antifungal properties.
Lemongrass is beneficial for digestion as it stimulates the gastric juices. It can help as an analgesic for headaches and migraines. In massage, it can ease muscle spasms, sprains and strains. For the nervous system, lemongrass energizes the senses, soothes the body and uplifts the spirits. For safety, you must always use a carrier oil/lotion when using Lemongrass topically, as it can be a skin irritant.
Lemongrass is naturally anti-microbial. It’s an excellent deodorizer – combined with Citronella is a great kitchen room refresher and mood lifter.
